The United forward was ready to answer Gary Neville’s question about which of the team’s two key rivals he dislikes the least when they spoke on The Overlap.
Without hesitation, the 25-year-old claimed it was the Reds who bothered him most.
“I do not like none of them,” said Rashford.
“I dislike Liverpool more.
“Liverpool all day.”
Neville agreed with the England international that he loathed Liverpool more than Cityzens, but he added that he knew other ex-United players who felt the opposite.
Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt, specifically.
“It is interesting that,” Neville stated.
“I am Liverpool, but if you speak to Scholesy or Butty they say City.”
Rashford questioned the former United right-back about why that was the case, and Neville assumed it was because they were both born and raised in the Manchester region. However, the forward quickly dismissed Neville’s comments as coming from Wythenshawe.
Realistically, given his history versus the Reds, it is difficult to fault the forward for his viewpoint.
Rashford vs Liverpool
Despite scoring six goals in 15 outings against Liverpool, Rashford has only ever been on the winning team three times.
Six times, he has come out on the losing end, including recent 7-0, 5-0, and 4-0 defeats in the previous two seasons alone.
Multiple beatings of that type are sure to be difficult to recover from; they will undoubtedly stick in the minds of everyone involved, and unfortunately for the erstwhile wonderkid, he had to experience them himself.
Additionally, he had to watch as Jurgen Klopp led Liverpool to unprecedented success while United struggled to finish in the top four.
I believe he can be pardoned for his viewpoint because the Reds have won it all and this coincides with the Red Devils’ most recent slump.
