Mbappe is unwilling to extend his contract with the Ligue 1 champions beyond June 2024.
The extension clause that exists in the 24-year-old’s current contract expired on July 31.
Mbappe will become a free agent in the summer of 2024 as things stand.
There have been rumours that Madrid and Mbappe already have a contract in place, according to which the youngster will receive a €160 million signing bonus if he joins the LaLiga giants.
FIFA forbids such contracts since they call for approaching a player without first getting permission from his existing employers.
