Al-Ahli attempting to sabotage Manchester United’s acquisition of Serie A star

Al-Ahli are attempting to interfere with Manchester United's pursuit of midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.

The Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat has been linked to both Manchester United and Al-Ahli this summer, according to the French publication L’Equipe.

Amrabat attracted interest from several prominent European teams after a standout performance for Morocco during the 2022 World Cup.

While Fiorentina rejected offers for their prized asset in January, the situation may be different this summer as the 26-year-old has shown no inclination to extend his contract beyond 2025.

This indicates that the Italian club may be open to considering offers for the player during the current transfer window.

Man United have been long interested in the African honcho, with Erik ten Hag having previous experience with the player during the early stages of his career at FC Utrecht.

It has been recently revealed that United are ready to sign him for £30 million, as the player has set his eyes on a move to Old Trafford.

The player seems interested in joining the English giants, and competition for his signature has intensified.

Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli are also vying for his services and have been actively bolstering their squad with high-profile signings, including players from Chelsea, Manchester City, Newcastle United, and Liverpool.

Despite the competition, United are still determined to secure Amrabat’s transfer, and negotiations continue.

After roping in a new manager, Matthias Jaissle, Al-Ahli appears to be targeting defensive-minded players, with the Moroccan star at the top of their wishlist.

Al-Ahli have the financial power to match United’s offer and personal terms for Amrabat, putting the player in a position to make a decision about his future.

The Red Devils will prefer to move quickly rather than lose their target at this point in time. They are looking to bring in new midfielders, and the Saudi club’s intervention wouldn’t be taken lightly by the club.

However, the player’s preference to move to the Theatre of Dreams will give United an extra advantage in this hot race. Fans of both clubs will closely monitor any developments, eagerly awaiting updates on potential deals for the talented player.

It’s no secret that Ten Hag is a strong admirer of the defensive midfielder and is eager to bring him to Old Trafford.

Amrabat‘s arrival would be a valuable addition to the team’s midfield, which has been a weak area for them in recent times.

It would alleviate the pressure on Casemiro, who has often been relied upon heavily in midfield. The experienced player’s versatility on the field is one of his key strengths, as he can effectively play as a defensive midfielder, central midfielder, or even as a right-back.

Ten Hag values players who can cover multiple positions, providing tactical flexibility during matches and allowing for better squad rotation.

Considering Financial Fair Play restrictions, United will need to make effective sales to have the budget for further acquisitions.
