Trossard was impressive and Vieira was improved in Arsenal’s second half against Monaco.

Aaron Ramsdale: Probably lucky not to concede right at the beginning of the second half when Ben Yedder hit the post but that wasn’t his fault. Well positioned when called upon. Goal kicks could do with a little more variety though. Saved a penalty in the shootout to earn hero status for the day! 6.

William Saliba: Came off too early to get a second half rating. n/a.

Jakub Kiwior: Switched back out to right centre back and did OK there too. Seems as though he’ll have a much more important role going into next season after taking a while to get going in his Arsenal career. 6.

Jurrien Timber: Came off too early to get a second half rating. n/a.

Thomas Partey: Came off too early to get a second half rating. n/a.

Declan Rice: Came off too early to get a second half rating. n/a.

Emile Smith Rowe: Came off too early to get a second half rating. n/a.

Fabio Vieira: Brighter in this half and showed some good moments of strength which is a part of his game that often gets criticised. Still lacked the right decision in the final third though. Good effort on the volley that might have proved that wrong had it gone in however. 6.

Eddie Nketiah: Left on up top even though Arteta had other options as a sign of the Arsenal boss’ faith in him. Tried to make things happen with some quality link up, but not as successful as in the first half. 6.

Gabriel Martinelli: Came off too early to get a second half rating. n/a.

SUBSTITUTES:

Kieran Tierney: Caught out in behind on occasion just as his predecessors at full back were. Decent in possession though and inverted well. 6.

Gabriel: Solid after coming on in the second half. A few obvious fouls that on another day might have been more severely punished. Good in possession though. Who knew he could take penalties?! 6.

Ben White: Solid enough at right-back. Not given a crazy amount to do, but defended well and wasn’t caught out of position. 6.

Jorginho: One superb eye of the needle pass to slip in Trossard that nearly led to a goal. The Italian means that Arsenal’s options in the six are now outstanding. 6.

Kai Havertz: Won over the Emirates crowd on his home debut almost instantly with a snapping challenge to win the ball back in transition. Generally defended well but not as much impact in the final third as he may have hoped for. 6.

Martin Odegaard: Went close with an effort on goal. Looked far better than his off-colour display in L.A. 6.

Leandro Trossard: A threat in behind for someone who is generally better known for dropping to link play. His quality on the ball will be one of Arsenal’s biggest assets next season. 7.

Marquinhos: Came on too late to influence the game. n/a.
