Liverpool face a race against time to get their summer business done before they kick off their new league season against Chelsea on August 13.
Klopp made two early midfield additions, and both Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai have featured in pre-season. However, with Jordan Henderson and Fabinho completing moves to the Saudi Pro League, further reinforcements could be required in the middle of the park.
That’s not the only area of focus for the Reds, who will be looking to improve on last season’s fifth-place finish in the Premier League. Here are the latest transfer lines from around Anfield.
Brighton expect to keep Caicedo
Liverpool and Chelsea target Moises Caicedo is expected to stay at Brighton despite late interest from the Saudi Pro League. The Seagulls knocked back an £80m offer from Chelsea, and are not thought to have received a renewed bid.
Caicedo was the subject of interest in January, most notably from Arsenal. However, after Roberto De Zerbi’s team kept hold of the Ecuador international, he signed a new longer-term deal on the south coast.
Arsenal since turned their attentions elsewhere, spending £105m on Declan Rice. This appears to have hindered any hopes Liverpool and Chelsea might have of getting a deal done, with time running out before the start of the Premier League season.
Man Utd not out of Lavia running
Manchester United are considering returning to the Romeo Lavia race, according to The Independent. Liverpool remain in the mix for the Belgian, who remains on Southampton’s books for the time being.
