Super Falcons head coach, Randy Waldrum, seems unfazed by the possibility of a Keira Walsh comeback as his team gets ready to play the European Champions in the World Cup round of 16, Soccerhuz.com reports.
The clash with England is set to take place in Brisbane on Monday, August 7, and both teams are gearing up for an intense knock-out match.
Despite Walsh’s possible return, Waldrum is readying his team for a challenging game, knowing that England possesses many attacking threats.
“Obviously, she’s a key player in their midfield” he acknowledged.
The nine-time champions defeated the tournament’s co-hosts, Australia, by a score of three goals to two.
Chelsea striker Sam Kerr, widely regarded as the finest female forward in the world, could accomplish nothing in the game due to the Falcons’ preparedness for her threat.
In an interview with the media, Waldrum indicated that his girls will replicate what was done for the 29-year-old when they meet Walsh and her team.
“Kind of like what we had to do with Sam Kerr. We didn’t know and had to prepare with her there and without.” he revealed.
He emphasizes the need for thorough preparation, taking into account all possible scenarios as England’s formidable lineup includes several high-profile players, each capable of causing trouble for the opposition.
The addition of Walsh’s availability is not the only improvement in fitness. Walsh’s Barcelona colleague Asisat Oshoala is also prepared for selection after overcoming recent fitness setbacks.
Her inclusion in the starting lineup for the Super Falcons would improve Nigeria’s prospects in the crucial encounter against the British women.
