Chelsea are closing in on the signature of Leeds United ace Tyler Adams with a medical now imminent.
That is according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth, who claims that Chelsea have now met the £20million release clause in Adams’ contract
Sheth claims that Adams will now undergo a medical with Chelsea ahead of finalising his move to Stamford Bridge.
Fabrizio Romano adds that Adams has actually already completed the first part of his medical with Chelsea.
The second part will come today with Adams now on the verge of leaving Leeds for a move to West London.
The Blues are in desperate need of a new midfielder or two having let the likes of Jorginho, N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek leave in recent times.
It’s just as well that Adams has earned comparisons to N’Golo Kante from Ian Wright, providing an all-action and defensively-sound midfielder in front of the Chelsea back line.
Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur to miss out on Moises Caicedo
Chelsea will be delighted to have won the race for Adams given the rival interest in his signature.
Reports from 90Min just a few days ago suggested that a host of Premier League clubs were all looking into signing Adams.
Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, Manchester United, Brighton and Hove Albion and Brentford were all claimed to be ‘keeping tabs’ on Adams and his situation.
Liverpool certainly need a new midfielder and especially defensively-minded one after losing Fabinho and Jordan Henderson.
The Reds may have seen Adams as a bargain addition but Chelsea have now won the race as the two clubs continue to fight for midfielders.
The Telegraph report that Liverpool have now made a bid for Moises Caicedo, a player Chelsea have wanted all summer.
Chelsea have now made a bid for Southampton star Romeo Lavia, who has been chased by Liverpool for weeks.
The two clubs seem to be messing with each other at this point but Chelsea will at least have one win on their hands by signing Adams.
