Chelsea could be about to do something spectacular in the transfer market on the eve of the new Premier League season. Mauricio Pochettino has long been in the market for midfield reinforcements and now it looks as though the Blues are pushing for both Romeo Lavia and Moises Caicedo.
Chelsea host Liverpool in their Premier League opener on Sunday at Stamford Bridge and there could be some added intrigue to the spectacle as the two clubs battle it out for Southampton’s Lavia.
Manchester United are also far from finished in the transfer market and Erik ten Hag is plotting further new arrivals for his squad with Harry Maguire heading for the exit door.
Arsenal are also set to complete the signing of David Raya from Brentford ahead of Saturday’s clash with Nottingham Forest, who will be able to field Matt Turner between the sticks.
Express Sport provides you with the latest transfer news from the Premier League and beyond on Thursday, August 10.
Liverpool outbid Chelsea for Caicedo
According to The Telegraph, Liverpool have made a bid for Moises Caicedo that is worth more than Chelsea’s offer for the Brighton man.
Despite that, Caicedo would seemingly favour a move to Chelsea.
Personal terms are already in place but now the Reds are trying to hijack the move.
Chelsea’s highest offer of £80m was rejected in the past few weeks with Brighton looking for £100m.
Tottenham accept Kane bid
Bombshell news from The Athletic, who report Bayern Munich have reached an agreement to sign Harry Kane.
They will pay £86m for the England captain, who must now decide whether he jumps ship.
Kane is yet to push for a move but he’s said to have told Bayern earlier in the window that he wanted to make the move.
Ange Postecoglou’s side are now facing a huge distraction ahead of Sunday’s Premier League opener against Brentford.
Chelsea Lavia hijack
Chelsea have made a £48m bid for Romeo Lavia as they seek to pinch the Belgian ahead of Liverpool.
The Reds have seen three bids rejected by the Saints and now the Championship club are getting the bidding war they desire.
Lavia wanted to join Liverpool but that could now change as the race hots up.
Liverpool’s latest bid was worth £45m and they will now have to up their offer to beat the Blues to his signature.
