It is game day! This afternoon, Chelsea will host Liverpool at Stamford Bridge as both teams try to get the 2018 Premier League season off to a good start.
In each of their previous four meetings, it has ended 0-0 after 90 minutes but, as the Mosies Caicedo tug-of-war prolongs, it looks set to be a feisty affair. It’s believed that Liverpool were first to agree a deal with Brighton for the 21-year-old midfielder, who actually prefers a move to west London.
Nevertheless, the transfer race seems to be coming to an end but it remains to be seen who will come out on top. In other news, Romeo Lavia continues to be heavily linked with a move to Chelsea as an inevitable exit from Southampton looms.
Michael Olise has also been a notable target for the Blues this summer, but speculation of an exit from Crystal Palace has died down lately. So, with that being said, stay with us at soccerhuz.com as we bring you all the latest news, transfer gossip and injury updates throughout the day.
Mbappe message
Kylian Mbappe has sent a warm welcome to his fellow countryman Ousmane Dembele after the former Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund attacker joined Paris Saint-Germain, Soccerhuz.com writes.
Having been a deal that was agreed some weeks ago, PSG then hit a late stumbling block over where the fees were going to be headed but have since secured their man. The 26-year-old was announced as a new addition to Luis Enrique’s squad on August 12, the same day that the Ligue 1 season got underway.
Caicedo medical
David Ornstein has said that a medical for Caicedo to Liverpool would have taken place on Friday if Caicedo agreed to join Liverpool. His preference was relayed “clearly” to Liverpool was to join Chelsea.
He also added: “I would now expect this to be completed, but it’s not there just yet. I think it will probably suit all parties to get this done after the match.”
Liverpool halt
Liverpool are still the only team with an agreement over Moises Caicedo as it stands.
The Reds reached an agreement on Friday for £110million, a price Chelsea are expected to have to go in advance of if they are to secure the player.
More on Lavia
It is reported that Chelsea are far from completing their plan of having Lavia and Caicedo presented at the game today.
It is said that any reports of a medical being booked were false and that Saints want a high percentage of the fee paid up front due to their sell-on clause to Manchester City.
Liverpool are also yet to come in with a new offer after Chelsea upped the stakes.
