Hello and welcome to our dedicated Liverpool live blog for Tuesday, August 15.
Liverpool were handed a double blow on Monday in the transfer market. First it was via reports of Romeo Lavia’s preference to join Chelsea, and later it was through the London club’s announcement of the signing of Moises Caicedo.
Snubs from two midfield targets hand the Reds a major problem heading into the final weeks of the transfer window with an answer seemingly to be plucked from thin air.
Tyler Adams, one of the few remaining available defensive midfielders in the Premier League, could be targeted though could just as equally find himself lining up on the away side at Anfield on Saturday given the fact Bournemouth have met his £20m release clause.
Salah ‘contacted by Al-Ittihad’
Saudi side Al-Ittihad have reportedly contacted Mohamed Salah and Liverpool about a potential transfer.
That’s according to journalist Rudy Galetti, who is reporting that Salah will let Liverpool decide as he doesn’t mind the idea but respects the Anfield club’s decision.
Speaking earlier this month, Salah’s agent, Ramy Abbas, emphatically ruled out the possibility of the Egyptian making an eye-watering move to the Saudi Pro League this summer – insisting the forward “remains committed” to Liverpool.
Romeo Lavia transfer decision
The club’s pursuit of Romeo Lavia has been tracked for weeks now and it appears to be coming to an end, though not one that was expected.
With the lure of a better contract, it is to believed the 19-year-old will become a Chelsea player later this week.
This was the word of the Athletic, despite suggestions earlier in the day that Liverpool had trumped the Londoner’s bid with a £60m offer of their own.
