Liverpool are reportedly keen to sign Aston Villa midfielder Boubacar Kamara ‘more than ever’ as they look to complete their midfield rebuild. Jurgen Klopp has completely reshuffled his ranks in that department, and Villa’s No 44 is seen as the final piece of the puzzle at Anfield.
After allowing James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to depart at the end of last season, new midfielders were top of the shortlist in Merseyside. Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai were acquired as replacements, though the departures of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho mean that Liverpool are still in the market.
Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia were both eyed, but the duo opted to head to Chelsea instead. Stuttgart’s Wataru Endo is now likely to join the Reds, but an additional new midfield signing should not be ruled out.
According to Foot Mercato, Liverpool are very interested in signing Kamara and they are considering making a move for the Frenchman ‘more than ever’. The Reds are aware that it will be a tough task to prise the 23-year-old away from Villa Park, but it is not considered ‘impossible’.
Kamara’s versatility to play in several midfield roles is viewed as an attractive asset by Liverpool, with Klopp keen to acquire players that can be deployed in different positions to allow for rotation. However, Unai Emery is expected to try and rebuff any approach from the Reds if they do decide to table a concrete offer for the ex-Marseille star.
Signing a player that a club would rather not part ways with has been a theme for Liverpool this summer, with Stuttgart head coach Sebastien Hoeness revealing on Thursday that his side are reluctantly selling Endo due to the player’s personal aspirations

“From the club’s point of view, we speak of an economically good package. From a sporting point of view, of course, I’m not thrilled. Wataru is an important player both athletically and personally.
“He’s our captain. He has made 99 of 102 possible Bundesliga games. He was always there in important moments. But I won’t start lamenting. We regret it because we will miss him sportingly.”
