Romelu Lukaku could soon join Kepa Arrizabalaga at Real Madrid as the Chelsea striker aims to find a new club.
That is according to El Debate in Spain.
So, what is the latest on Romelu Lukaku at Chelsea? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well, the Belgian has now been offered to Real Madrid.
El Debate believe Carlo Ancelotti has been given the chance to sign Lukaku by the 30-year-old’s agent, due to the fact Real Madrid could do with another striker.
The Spanish giants lost Karim Benzema to Saudi Arabia, and Kylian Mbappe now looks set to stay at PSG for another season, meaning Los Blancos only have Joselu as a recognised senior centre-forward.
Lukaku failed to turn up for pre-season training under Mauricio Pochettino at Cobham, and is not part of the Argentine’s plans for the 2023/24 campaign.
The Belgium international looked set to return to Inter Milan before angering the Italian giants by also holding talks with AC Milan and Juventus.
Lukaku then seemed likely to join the latter side – before things went quiet after Juventus fans created banners and invaded the pitch to demand he is not brought to the Allianz Stadium.
The Chelsea outcast is also against moving to Saudi Arabia, leaving his future well and truly clouded in uncertainty.
Real Madrid move could be great for Chelsea and Lukaku
If Ancelotti does accept the offer of bringing Lukaku to the Santiago Bernabeu, it could be a move that works out for all parties.
Despite his tendency to put his foot in his mouth sometimes, the man from Antwerp is a fantastic striker when he’s in a settled environment, and he should score plenty with the likes of Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Junior and others creating for him
If Lukaku does join Real Madrid on loan and performs well, it would put him back in the shop window, helping Chelsea receive some kind of fee later down the line, while also helping Ancelotti find a temporary solution before Mbappe joins as expected in 2024.
If it’s a permanent deal, then that’s even better for Chelsea, as his £350,000-a-week salary will finally be removed from the wage bill.
Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Lukaku may soon be joining Kepa at Real Madrid.
