Brennan Johnson wants a move to Tottenham Hotspur over Chelsea if he is to leave Nottingham Forest this summer.
That is according to the Daily Mail, who claim that Chelsea have been thinking about a move for Johnson for weeks now.
The Blues are keen to add another winger and missed out on signing Crystal Palace ace Michael Olise last week.
Chelsea are turning to Johnson and are keen to offer makeweights in the deal, such as midfielder Andrey Santos on loan.
Forest want around £50million for Johnson and Chelsea are trying to bring the price down.
The report adds that playing time is absolutely vital for Johnson and that’s why he actually prefers to join Tottenham Hotspur.
Spurs are keen to land Johnson and the Welsh international would seemingly make them a priority over Chelsea before the transfer deadline.
Brennan Johnson may believe he can supplant Dejan Kulusevski at Tottenham Hotspur
Johnson has the kind of versatility Tottenham are seeking as they continue to be linked with forwards who can play all across the front line.
The 22-year-old – hailed as ‘very rapid’ by Wales boss Rob Page – has caused real problems for Forest and it’s easy to see why Tottenham want him.
Johnson has mostly played as a right-sided winger in his career and Tottenham do already have a top option there in Dejan Kulusevski.
Still trying to get back to his best, Kulusevski loves to cut inside onto his left foot.
Ange Postecoglou may now want to add a right-footed option on that side, just like Liel Abada in his Celtic side.
Johnson could fit the bill and his interest in joining Tottenham over Chelsea should spark Spurs into life after cashing in on Harry Kane.
