Premier League clubs have continued their huge spending trend this summer and it shows no sign of slowing down.
Arsenal are one of Europe’s biggest spenders having sealed three lucrative deals. The Gunners might not be done there though as they go head-to-head with Manchester United for the signing of Benjamin Pavard.
Sticking with the Red Devils and they are also facing competition for the signing of Ryan Gravenberch from Bayern Munich. Erik ten Hag has already sealed three signings of his own this summer but still wants more.
Elsewhere, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool also want to add more bodies to their squad. The Reds announced the capture of Wataru Endo last week and he could potentially be followed by long-term target Sofyan Amrabat.
Greenwood released
Mason Greenwood has been released by Manchester United.
In a statement the club said: “Based on the evidence available to us, we have concluded that the material posted online did not provide a full picture and that Mason did not commit the offences in respect of which he was originally charged.
“That said, as Mason publicly acknowledges today, he has made mistakes which he is taking responsibility for. All those involved, including Mason, recognise the difficulties with him recommencing his career at Manchester United.
“It has therefore been mutually agreed that it would be most appropriate for him to do so away from Old Trafford, and we will now work with Mason to achieve that outcome.”
Balogun interest
Fulham are also being linked with a move for Arsenal striker Flo Balogun. He is not part of Mikel Arteta’s plans going forward but the Gunners are looking for a cool £50m for the United States international.
According to the Mail, Fulham are willing to cough up £35m for Balogun, who scored a hatful on loan at French club Reims last season.
Monaco have previously had a bid for him rejected.
Hudson-Odoi stance
Chelsea are holding out for £8m for winger Callum Hudson-Odoi, a fee that Fulham could now meet after Aleksandar Mitrovic’s unpopular decision to accept the Saudi millions.
But after initially saying that £8m was too excessive for the former England Under-21 winger, who is deemed surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge, Fulham now face competition from Everton and Nottingham Forest.
Forest star Brennan Johnson continues to be linked with a move to Chelsea but Steve Cooper’s side are desperate to keep a hold of one of their stars.
Real want Gabriel
Real Madrid have registered their interest in signing Arsenal defender Gabriel as they search for a replacement after Eder Militao tore his cruciate ligament last week.
But, according to the Mail, Gabriel is happy in north London and has already ignored some interest from the Saudi Pro League.
The Mail also reports that Arsenal remain in talks with Besiktas about offloading Nicolas Pepe.
ICYMI – Gravenberch battle
Manchester United and Liverpool are embroiled in a tug-of-war for Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch.
The two north-west giants have tabled contract offers to the 21-year-old former Ajax star after being told that Gravenberch is planning to hold showdown talks with Bayern about his future under Thomas Tuchel. The German champions value him at around £22million.
But a more likely compromise would be for Gravenberch to be sent out on loan for the season. Bayern told the Dutchman they did not want to lose him when United and Liverpool made enquiries earlier this summer – and the player opted to stay.
PSG eyeing Kolo Muani
PSG are reportedly set to lodge a big offer for Eintracht Frankfurt’s Randal Kolo Muani.
As per Foot Mercato, they will table an offer in the region of €70m plus bonuses for the former Manchester United target.
PSG are currently looking for a replacement for Brazilian winger Neymar, who left to join Al-Hilal earlier this month .
Casadei hails dream debut
Chelsea midfielder Cesare Casadei has spoken out on a dream debut with Leicester after scoring a late winner against Cardiff.
Speaking after his stoppage time goal, the Italian said: “I couldn’t ask for more for this first game for Leicester and I’m really happy. I didn’t think at all to be honest; I was just waiting. I was ready to kick that ball and fortunately it went in the goal.
“[I was] just a little bit [nervous], but it’s normal, I think. The first game I was so excited more than nervous. I was very excited to play in this stadium in front of these amazing fans and I was really happy.
Man City in talks to sign Doku
Whilst Man City might be set to lose defender Aymeric Laporte, it appears that the reigning Premier League champions are closing in on an additon.
According to Sky Sports, they are in talks with Rennes to sign Belgian winger Jeremy Doku. It is thought that he would be a replacement for Riyad Mahrez, who has moved to Saudi Arabia
Ben Foster retires
Wrexham goalkeeper Ben Foster has announced his shock retirement from professional football for a second time.
The 40-year-old, who came out of retirement in March to help the Dragons to gain promotion from the National League, signed a new one-year deal at the club in the summer following their promotion to League Two.
However, he had now reversed that retirement decision and decided to bow out of the game again after playing just four games of the new league season, during which time the club conceded 13 goals, including five in a 5-5 draw at home to Swindon on Saturday which prompted much criticism of the former England
Liverpool close to Amrabat deal
Liverpool appear to be close to a move for World Cup star Sofyan Amrabat.
The Moroccan midfielder has been linked with a switch to the Premier League all summer long with Man United and Liverpool thought to be at the front of the queue. Jurgen Klopp appears to have stolen a march.
As per AD, Liverpool are close to a move, with reports in Italy also indicating that Amrabat has accepted a move to Anfield.
Real Madrid plot Mbappe offer
Real Madrid are reportedly planning on tabling a bid for PSG star Kylian Mbappe.
The Frenchman has been reintegrated into the side at the Parc des Princes but as it stands would still be available on a free transfer next summer at the end of his contract.
However, Real are being backed to make a move. According to Bild, they ar trying to force PSG’s hand with a £103m bid for the striker.
