Liverpool have reportedly now held talks with Crystal Palace for Cheick Doucoure, with the Reds heavily linked with the midfielder in recent weeks.
According to the Daily Mail, the Anfield side have been in discussions with the south London side over the 23-year-old, with Doucoure a top target for Liverpool in the final days of the summer window.
The Daily Mail have previously reported that Palace want as much as £70m for the Mali international, a fee that could put Liverpool off a potential deal for the midfielder.
Praised by Breaking The Lines as an ‘outstanding’ player, Doucoure fits the bill perfectly for what Liverpool are looking for in a fourth and final midfield signing this window.
And this latest update of the Reds being in talks with Palace is encouraging, with a deal for Doucoure seemingly more realistic than what many first imagined.
Indeed, a hefty sum could still be needed to bring Doucoure to Merseyside, but talks with Palace means that Liverpool could strike a deal in the coming days for the youngster.
Liverpool have to do all they can to sign Doucoure
Liverpool’s search for another signing seems to be narrowing, with Doucoure a player the Reds are clearly keen on signing if a fee can be agreed with Palace for the midfielder.
With a season of Premier League football under his belt, Doucoure impressed enough to show the signs that he can become a real star for one of the biggest clubs in all of England.
And Liverpool can be that side, with Jurgen Klopp’s need for a defensive midfielder the platform the Mali international needs to take his game to a new level and to become a superstar in the Premier League.
