Liverpool face Anfield delay
Liverpool’s phased opening of the new Anfield Road end is reportedly set for an uncertain few weeks due to the ongoing issues with contractors from the Buckingham Group.
Last week, it was revealed that the construction group had filed an intention to appoint administrators and, according to This is Anfield, no work was carried out at the site on Monday.
The report adds that on Monday morning “only a handful of security staff currently present on site and no progress on the build being made”.
Earlier this month, Liverpool announced that the new stand would be gradually opening, with October’s Merseyside derby the target for the first full house of the new season.

Manchester United make Mason Greenwood decision
Manchester United have confirmed Mason Greenwood will leave the club after the conclusion of an international investigation into the forward’s behaviour.
Releasing a statement on Monday afternoon, United said: “Our process commenced in February 2023, following all charges against Mason being dropped. Throughout, we have taken into account the wishes, rights and perspective of the alleged victim along with the club’s standards and values, and sought to collate as much information and context as possible. This has required us to proceed with sensitivity and care to obtain evidence not in the public domain, including from those with direct knowledge of the case.
“Based on the evidence available to us, we have concluded that the material posted online did not provide a full picture and that Mason did not commit the offences in respect of which he was originally charged. That said, as Mason publicly acknowledges today, he has made mistakes which he is taking responsibility for.
“All those involved, including Mason, recognise the difficulties with him recommencing his career at Manchester United. It has therefore been mutually agreed that it would be most appropriate for him to do so away from Old Trafford, and we will now work with Mason to achieve that outcome.”
Liverpool reportedly turned down move for Sofyan Amrabat
According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool turned down the opportunity to sign Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat this summer.
Speaking on YouTube, Romano said: “With Liverpool, they considered a deal for Sofyan Amrabat last week. However, they turned down a move, having signed Endo instead. For Man United, he remains a priority target, however they have to sell at least one more player.”
Fabrizio Romano explains Phillips stance
Fabrizio Romano has explained what the stances of Liverpool and Kalvin Phillips are with the Man City player re-emerging as a potential target.
Speaking to That’s Football on Monday he claimed that the England international is on the Reds’ list and Phillips wishes to stay at City to prove himself.
‘Liverpool plan dealt KO’
According to Nacional via Football365, Liverpool are to give up all hopes of signing Real Madrid midfielders Aurelien Tchouameni and Federico Valverde.
They claim that Jurgen Klopp wanted to sign at least one of the two midfielders this summer with Valverde valued at £111m and Tchouameni at £86m.
However this will be too much for Anfield club, who have also been ‘left in the lurch’ by the duo, and Sofyan Amrabat is stated as a more likely target.
