The Kylian Mbappe transfer saga this summer is coming up with new twists every other day as if it is a top-rated thriller movie. The ending of this story remains very much unpredictable, even to those closely following. Will the Frenchman remain at Paris Saint-Germain? Or will he end up at Real Madrid?
For a long time this summer, Mbappe moving to Real Madrid seemed almost inevitable. The Frenchman was even left out of PSG’s pre-season squad and did not even train with their first-team for a while.
But recently, the situation between the two parties improved almost out of the blue. Mbappe was brought back into the squad and even scored in his first game of the season, against Toulouse.
All this dashed Real Madrid’s hopes of signing him this summer. And as reported by The Times, Mbappe and PSG have agreed a deal to make sure that the Ligue 1 champions are financially compensated when the World Cup winner leaves. The verbal agreement follows a number of conversations between the player and the club’s president.
It looks like there could be a clause to facilitate a future exit if Mbappe does sign a new contract with PSG. It remains to be seen whether the possible deal will be a long-term one or only for a short-term basis. This is a new twist in the long-running saga.
Although, it seems Real Madrid are unmoved by all these recent developments. It looks like they do not intend to sign any more players in this summer transfer window and are eyeing a potential move for Mbappe next season.
With all this said, it is still unclear as to what will be the fate of this transfer saga. The summer window closes in less than two weeks from now.
