Ryan Gravenberch has not had ample game time at Bayern Munich, and he has been linked with a move away this summer. And former Tottenham Hotspur manager Tim Sherwood reckons that the player is likely to move to Liverpool before the summer transfer window closes.

The 21-year-old needs to play regular first-team football in order to continue his development. And a move to Liverpool would be ideal for him. The Reds are in need of midfield reinforcements and they will be able to offer the youngster, who currently pockets £200,000-a-week wages, plenty of game time.

Sherwood said (h/t HITC), “If you looked at their squad at the moment, can they be the champions of the Premier League again? Absolutely not. But anything can happen in the next couple of weeks. I am sure Ryan Gravenberch will go in there, the midfield player from Bayern. Hasn’t played since he has been there.”

Liverpool have sanctioned the departures of five first-team midfielders this summer. Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner left the club as free agents. Meanwhile, Jordan Henderson and Fabinho have been sold to Saudi Arabian clubs.

Liverpool have managed to bring in a couple of quality midfielders this summer in the form of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai. Meanwhile Wataru Endo arrived from VfB Stuttgart last week.

The Merseyside wanted to sign Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia as well. But both players have joined Chelsea, and Liverpool are now left needing defensive midfield reinforcements. Meanwhile, Gravenberch started just three games in the Bundesliga last season and a player of his calibre deserves to play more often.

It remains to be seen whether Liverpool can provide him with the necessary assurances and sign him for a reasonable price. Recent reports have claimed that they have prepared a bid to sign the Dutch midfield prospect.

It is evident that he is not a key player for Thomas Tuchel at Bayern Munich. So it makes sense for the Bundesliga champions to cash in on the £200,000-a-week youngster and invest the proceeds on a new player. The 21-year-old has the attributes to succeed in the Premier League, and working under a world-class manager like Jurgen Klopp could help him fulfil his tremendous potential.
