The Reds have reportedly been working on a deal to bring Andre to Anfield throughout August. However, with Fluminense unwilling to sell him mid-season, it looks likely that Liverpool will have to wait for the New Year.
According to ESPN Brasil though, Jurgen Klopp is not willing to wait. They claim that Liverpool will not come back in for Andre if they can’t get him tied up this summer.
That reportedly comes on the back of the Reds having a £26m offer for the 22-year-old rejected.
Fluminense are said to ‘adamant’ that Andre won’t be sold now, and are claimed to be ready to turn down any higher offers from Liverpool, too. As a result, the Reds will reportedly now turn their attentions to a ‘new name’
Liverpool won’t come back for Andre
We simply cannot understand some of the reasoning behind Liverpool’s moves in the transfer market this summer.
This morning, it’s been reported that Chelsea saw their late bid for Moises Caicedo as being ‘insane.’ From the outside looking in, that isn’t the only strange move they’ve made of late.
Obviously, the decision to sign Wataru Endo is one that has caused some surprise in the football world.
It could yet bear fruit and be a very shrewd addition. But to go from a £111m player to a £16m one in a key area of the pitch is odd, to say the least.
And now, if they do pull out of a further attempt to bring in Andre, it will go down as another bizarre piece of strategy.
Although he’s young and has no experience in European football, the Fluminense man looks like a top prospect. The price won’t be enormous in January and in theory Liverpool have enough to get them through until then.
There have been claims that Andre – described as ‘dynamic’ by football analysts Breaking The Lines – could be a replacement for Thiago Alcantara. With Thiago off next summer, a mid-season arrival for Andre would make a whole lot of sense. Let’s hope there’s more to this one than is reported here.
