Hello and welcome to our LIVE Liverpool transfer blog for Friday, August 25.
Mohamed Salah is the man in the headlines this morning as the Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad eye their latest marquee signing of the summer.
However, the ECHO understands that Liverpool are reluctant to sell their Egyptian King this summer. They are also yet to receive a formal offer for Salah.
Elsewhere, we’ll have the latest on Bayern Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie, who is being linked with a move to Anfield. Meanwhile, Tyler Morton is said to be ready for a loan move away this campaign after recovering from his lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has reportedly agreed a move to Al-Ittihad.
That’s according to beIN Sports, via Al Jazeera, who are reporting that Salah has agreed to the transfer – but no agreement has been reached between Liverpool and Al-Ittihad yet.
The ECHO reported on Thursday evening that Liverpool have no intention of selling Salah before next Friday’s transfer deadline.
Liverpool have no intention of selling Mohamed Salah before next Friday’s transfer deadline.
A number of reports have emerged from Saudi Arabia in recent days stating Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad are considering an official move for the Reds winger.
Liverpool have not yet received any official bid for the 31-year-old, who has two years remaining on an Anfield deal signed last summer that made him the highest-paid player in the club’s history.
And the ECHO understands any such offer would almost certainly be rejected with the player not for sale, particularly given there is barely a week until the transfer window closes for European teams.
Salah has been linked with interest from Al-Ittihad for almost a month, with his representative Ramy Abbas Issa taking to social media on August 7 to address the speculation by writing: “If we considered leaving LFC this year, we wouldn’t have renewed the contract last summer. Mohamed remains committed to LFC.”
Liverpool have already suffered serious disruption this summer due to the Saudi Pro League, with Fabinho having moved to Al-Ittihad for £40million while captain Jordan Henderson switched to Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq for £12m.
Thiago Alcantara rejected an approach from Saudi Arabia, with Al Nassr previously strongly linked with goalkeeper Alisson Becker.
