We’ll be bringing you all the build-up to this weekend’s game at St James’ Park, where Jurgen Klopp’s side will be looking to steal an early-season march on Newcastle United.

Back on Merseyside, Liverpool are remaining firm in the refusal to sell Mohamed Salah, with manager Jurgen Klopp saying such in Friday’s press conference.

Too, the Reds have been linked with moves for Manu Kone and Cheick Doucoure ahead of next Friday’s transfer deadline.

Liverpool informed Mohamed Salah wants to join Al Ittihad

Mohamed Salah has reportedly told Liverpool that he would like to leave to join Al Ittihad.

Rudy Galetti has claimed the final decision rests with the Reds and Jurgen Klopp.

However, there is a “huge bid” worth more than €100m.

He tweeted: “Mohamed #Salah informed #Liverpool that he would like to join #AlIttihad starting a new experience in [Saudi Arabia].

“The final decision is up to #LFC and Klopp: as told, there is a huge bid (more than $100m) for the [English] club to let him go.

“Monday 28th Aug is the deadline.”

Liverpool striker scores yet again as two new signings watch battling win

Liverpool under-18s returned to winning ways with a 2-0 victory as they saw off Derby County at the AXA Training Centre.

First-half goals from Jayden Danns and Karim Ahmed this afternoon were enough to help them to their second win of the season.

It only took the young Reds stand-in skipper six minutes to notch his fourth of the season. Trent Kone-Doherty’s cross was met by Danns, whose initial volley hit the post, but the 17-year-old recovered to nod in on the rebound.

Marc Bridge-Wilkinson’s side were clinical in the first half and they had a second when Ahmed curled past Jack Thompson in the Rams net. Francis Gyimah and Kieran Morrison combined, with the latter rewarded for his fine work when the Egyptian doubled the Reds’ lead.

Liverpool urged to make Phillips move

Former Liverpool goalkeeper David James believes there is “no reason” why Kalvin Phillips would not fit into Jurgen Klopp’s side.

The Reds have recently been linked with a move for the Manchester City midfielder, who was limited to only a handful of first-team chances last season.

Explaining why a deal for the former Leeds star would make sense, James told GGRecon:

“I believe Kalvin Phillips is a terrific player. Initially, the idea of Declan Rice going to Manchester City made perfect sense when you consider how well he and Kalvin play together for England, but obviously that didn’t come to fruition. There’s absolutely no reason why Kalvin Phillips wouldn’t fit into that Liverpool side,”

“I’m not greatly concerned by his injury record because I seemed to remember him being on the bench most of the time for Manchester City last season. There’s no reason to be worried by his lack of gametime either as that suggests that these players are doing nothing when they’re not playing. I can assure you that all players are still as fit as needed and Manchester City have started off flying this season despite only having three pre-season games, so I don’t believe Kalvin will need a lot of time to adjust if he was to make the move to Liverpool.”

Sane claim

Liverpool are said to be considering Leroy Sane as a potential Mohamed Salah replacement, should the Egyptian be sold this summer.

Klopp made clear at his press conference on Friday afternoon the club do not have any plans to offload the winger, though Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad are believed to be pushing hard for his services.

A latest report by Calciomercato has suggested Sane is a potential option should the unthinkable happen as the former Manchester City star looks to ‘get closer to his family’ and is ‘eager’ to return to the Premier League.

Also listed as possible Salah replacements are Karim Adeyemi, who was strongly linked with Liverpool before leaving RB Salzburg for Borussia Dortmund last year, and Federico Chiesa of Juventus.

The ECHO reported earlier this week the Reds have no intention of Salah and are yet to receieve a formal offer for the 31-year-old.

Gravenberch boost

Liverpool’s hopes of signing Ryan Gravenberch may have been boosted as Bayern Munich plot a move for Fulham midfielder, Joao Palhinha.

Palhinha is a player the Reds have, too, been linked with in recent weeks but talk of a move for the Portuguese has cooled of late.

Bayern are also said to be eyeing the former Sporting man, as reported by Football Insider, and will ‘use the funds’ from a Gravenberch sale to ‘make a move for Palhinha’.

Liverpool not eyeing Manu Kone move

Liverpool are reportedly not looking to make a move for Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Manu Kone, according to Bild reporter Tobi Altschaffl.

Speaking to Empire of the Kop, Altschaffl said: “I can tell you I had some talks with really high-up representatives of Gladbach and it’s not Liverpool who are leading [for Manu Kone] at the moment.

“They told me they knew about the interest, we were talking about that before, but it’s not like Liverpool are pushing to get Kone.

“I don’t think the Kone-Liverpool topic is too hot at the moment, but let’s wait and see what will happen in the last few days of this exciting transfer window.”

Crystal Palace name Cheick Doucoure price

Crystal Palace have put huge price tags on midfielder Cheick Doucoure, who has been linked with a summer switch to Anfield.

That’s according to the Evening Standard, who are reporting that Eagles will demand £70 million for the Mali international who impressed at Selhurst Park last campaign.

Should Liverpool make a swoop for the midfielder this week, Reds?
