Deadline day is less than a week away and there is still plenty of meat on the bones for the likes of Tottenham, Liverpool and Manchester United. Managers and sporting directors across the Premier League are running out of time to plug any remaining gaps in their squad before knuckling down until January.
Spurs’ promising start under Ange Postecoglou continued on Saturday with a comfortable win over Bournemouth. The opportunity to work with the Aussie coach could therefore carry some weight if the Londoners come calling, although offloading players is still believed to be one of the club’s top priorities.
Liverpool stayed true to form and conducted most of their transfer business early in the summer. But Jurgen Klopp could be forced into an uncomfortable situation if star man Mohamed Salah pushes through a blockbuster move to Saudi Arabia.
Manchester United, meanwhile, are on the hunt for a new left-back to cover Luke Shaw’s latest injury blow.
Ten Hag’s demand
Erik ten Hag wants two players for every position by the time the transfer window ends.
He said on Saturday: “If that is the case [players will depart the club], then we will bring you news,” he replied when asked a question about goalkeeper Dean Henderson, who is set to join Crystal Palace.
“We are prepared well; we are fully in control so if there are transfers, we need to keep the squad competitive because it will be a tough season with many games to cover.
“In many positions you need double and in the goalkeeping position we need three really good goalkeepers who can all keep the Premier League-standard so we will cover that.”
Bayern chasing Chelsea star
Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel is reportedly interested in Trevoh Chalobah, the Telegraph reports.
Chalobah shone under Tuchel during the German’s time at Chelsea.
And the pair could apparently be reunited in the final week of the window.
Man Utd ‘offered’ Hojbjerg
Man Utd have reportedly been offered the chance to sign Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Tottenham.
Erik ten Hag is desperate to add a midfielder before Friday’s transfer deadline.
The Telegraph reports that Spurs are willing to selling Hojbjerg, 28, before the window closes.
United have supposedly been offered the Dane.
Liverpool eye £124m trio
Liverpool are reportedly working on crisis plans in case Mohamed Salah joins Al-Ittihad over the final few days of the transfer window.
Bayern Munich star Leroy Sane, Juventus ace Federico Chiesa and Borussia Dortmund’s Karim Adeyemi are the three key names being considered by the Reds, according to Calciomercato.
With a combined market value of £124million, Jurgen Klopp and co are only chasing the best of the best to replace the prolific Egyptian.
