Premier League clubs have until Tuesday night to finalise all of their transfer negotiations ahead of the summer transfer window closing. With the market still incredibly inflated, the majority of outfits are still on the lookout for new signings and will be working to the wire to bolster their ranks.

Soccerhuz.com provides you with all the details that you need to know on deadline day…

When does the transfer window close?

The transfer window is due to close at 11pm on Friday, September 1. Managers will need to be content with their acquisitions by the time that the deadline arrives as no further business can take place until January. All of Europe’s five major leagues close on the same day this summer.

Can clubs still complete business after 11pm?

Clubs that are close to completing a transfer before the deadline can grant themselves a minor extension if there is a risk that all of the relevant paperwork is not signed off in time. A ‘deal sheet’ is submitted to the Premier League and the clubs then have until 1am to complete the deal.

However, deal sheets are only relevant for moves between domestic clubs, and transfers involving foreign sides must comply with the FIFA Transfer Matching System – which can grant extensions until midnight.

What has happened so far and what could still take place?

This summer’s transfer window will go down in history as one of the most jaw-dropping few months in footballing history. Numerous big-name players, including Karim Benzema and Neymar, have opted to follow in the footsteps of Cristiano Ronaldo by heading to Saudi Arabia. Several Premier League stars have gone to the Middle East as well such as Jordan Henderson and N’Golo Kante.

Title holders Manchester City have shaken up their ranks with the acquisitions of Josko Gvardiol, Jeremy Doku and Mateo Kovacic; with Arsenal hoping to close the gap on Pep Guardiola’s side with help from new acquisitions Declan Rice, Jurrien Timber, David Raya and Kai Havertz.

Chelsea and Liverpool are expected to remain busy until the transfer window closes, despite both outfits splashing the cash. Ryan Gravenberch is a target at Anfield, with the Blues on the lookout for another No 9 once they have finalised the signing of Cole Palmer from Man City.

Elsewhere, Tottenham and Manchester United are both in the market for further reinforcements on deadline day. Spurs have recently seen their loan pursuit of Ansu Fati hijacked by Brighton and will now look to alternatives, whereas the Red Devils are pushing to strike a deal with Fiorentina for midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.

When does the next transfer window open?

Teams will only be able to sign and sell players again when the January transfer window opens on January 1, 2024. The mid-season window is the only opportunity to conduct business and plug holes in their squad until next year’s summer window.
