Liverpool return to Anfield as they host Aston Villa in the Premier League.

The Reds are looking to go into the September international break unbeaten after wins over AFC Bournemouth and Newcastle United, following the opening day draw with Chelsea.

Darwin Nunez was the hero at St James’ Park, seven days ago, as he scored twice to turn the game around for 10-man Liverpool.

Ryan Gravenberch, who arrived from Bayern Munich, will not feature for the Reds after signing after the 12pm deadline on Friday. Curtis Jones is back in contention following injury but Thiago remains sidelined after suffering a setback in his recovery from hip surgery.

The Reds could move into the top four at the early stage of the Premier League campaign, if they inflict a second defeat of the season for Unai Emery’s side.

Villa go into the trip to Anfield unbeaten in four in all competitions, with wins over Everton and Burnley in the top flight. They coasted into the Group Stages of the UEFA Conference league after an emphatic 8-0 aggregate win over Hibernian.

Ian Doyle, Paul Gorst and Theo Squires will all be at Anfield to bring you live updates on the action, as well as bringing you team news, analysis and reaction.
