The transfer window in England may be well and truly closed but Saudi Arabian clubs can still purchase players for another two days, and that means rumours about Mohamed Salah’s future will persist.
Indeed, it appears as though a delegation from Al Ittihad are set on making a final £200m effort to sign the Egypt star from Liverpool, we’ll have all the latest in his future.
We’ll also have injury news after Trent Alexander-Arnold pulled out of the England squad and Ibrahima Konate was withdrawn from the French national squad.
Joao Felix swap claim
Liverpool are understood to have been keen on signing Joao Felix this summer and were prepared to swap Darwin Nunez for the Portugal international, it has been suggested.
Felix, who spent last season on loan at Chelsea, ended up leaving Atletico Madrid for Barcelona on loan during the transfer window.
A report on the player from Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo has stated there were ‘no shortage of offers’ for Felix and that Liverpool were among the interested sides. It is added the Reds were willing to exchange Darwin Nunez for the 23-year-old.
Salah ‘£215m bid’ prepared
Al-Ittihad are said to be ‘preparing’ a world-record bid of £215million for Mohamed Salah.
The Saudi Arabian side have already seen an offer worth £150m rejected for the Egyptian, though the i have now reported they are set to return with a staggering sum which will surpass £200m (with add-ons taken into account).
The above report states Salah would ‘at least want to hear Al-Ittihad out’ should this bid be launched.
Sources said, however, that £215m, after add-ons have been taken into account, is an offer that nobody can flat out refuse without at least considering what can be done when reinvesting such funds.
Liverpool braced for new Mohamed Salah transfer offer as Saudi Arabia deadline looms
Liverpool will resist a last-ditch attempt from Al-Ittihad to sign Mohamed Salah as the Saudi Arabian champions make a final play before their transfer deadline.
The Saudi Pro League club have spent the last few weeks openly courting Salah and had a whopping £150m verbal offer rejected by the Reds, which was made public on Friday’s transfer deadline day after talks between Ittihad chiefs and Fenway Sports Group president Mike Gordon reportedly took place on Thursday evening.
Liverpool have always insisted, both publicly and privately, that Salah is not for sale but that hasn’t deterred the Saudi club who are now preparing one last push for the Reds’ No.11 before their own deadline on Thursday, September 7.
There had initially been conflicting reports of when the Saudi window shuts, with some suggesting it was as late as September 20. However, the league’s official website confirms Ittihad will have until Thursday to get a deal for Salah concluded.
Kylian Mbappe claim
Kylian Mbappe would reportedly be open to the idea of joining Liverpool next summer.
The PSG forward has continued to be linked with a move to Merseyside in the last few years and has come close to leaving his current employers on more than one occasion.
A fresh update on the future of the French star by L’Equipe via GFFN has stated Liverpool remains an option for Mbappe and that the player could be tempted should a bid be made by the Reds.
Liverpool may well have the funds required to launch a bid of this nature next summer if Jurgen Klopp’s side were to cash in on Mohamed Salah, who remains a target for Saudi Arabian sides. Matching Mbappe’s wage demands would likely prove a tall order, however.
Henderson speaks out
Jordan Henderson has spoken out on his decision to leave Liverpool this summer, insisting he no longer felt “wanted” by the club.
The Reds’ captain signed for Saudi Arabian side Al-Ettifaq, in a move that surprised the football community, and has now addressed his decision to leave the club.
