Real Madrid make a huge offer for Everton’s defence as Man Utd warns Arsenal against pursuing a crucial player – Women’s Transfer Gossip

Mary Earps, a target for Arsenal, will be contacted by Manchester United over a new contract, while Real Madrid wants to make an Everton defender the highest-paid defender in the world. Find out more in Tuesday's edition of Women's Transfer News.

MAN UTD PRIORITISE MARY EARPS CONTRACT

Manchester United are determined to prevent Mary Earps from joining Arsenal and are prioritising a new contract for the England goalkeeper, according to reports.

Earps has already been the subject of a six-figure bid this summer that would break a record for a female goalkeeper, but Manchester United rejected it.

However, since she is into the final year of her contract, they are at risk of losing her next year. It is a fate they are desperate to avoid after Alessia Russo went to Arsenal for free in the summer, just months after they were prepared to break the women’s transfer record to sign her.

Therefore, Manchester World is now reporting that it has become a priority for Marc Skinner’s side to secure Earps to a longer contract, alongside finalising the signings of targets like Hinata Miyazawa and Tatiano Pinto.

Winner of the Golden Glove at the recent FIFA Women’s World Cup, Earps is regarded as arguably the best goalkeeper on the planet. Therefore, Manchester United are focusing on keeping her at the club.

They have also lost other important players like Russo and Ona Batlle this summer, but a departure of Earps would leave them with an especially tough void to replenish in their squad.

Meanwhile, Arsenal’s main goalkeeper last season was Manuela Zinsberger, who remains at the club after extending her contract in March.

REAL MADRID TRY TO TEMPT EVERTON DEFENDER

Real Madrid are making a major effort to sign Everton centre-back Nathalie Bjorn, reports in her native Sweden say.

Bjorn is into the final year of her contract, which has caught the attention of Real Madrid. According to Fotbollskanalen, the Spanish side are willing to make her the highest-paid defender in the women’s game.

While the WSL transfer window is open until September 14, clubs in Spain only have until Wednesday to make their signings, so they are now in a race against time to tempt Everton into a sale.

Originally, Everton were open to cashing in on Bjorn this summer. However, head coach Brian Sorensen now wants to keep her, especially since their stance all along has been to have a replacement lined up first.

Nevertheless, if Bjorn stays at Everton and does not sign a new deal, Real Madrid will attempt to agree a free transfer for her next year.

HAUG HAS TAKEN LIVERPOOL MEDICAL

Liverpool are one step closer to confirming the club-record capture of Sophie Roman Haug after the striker was put through a medical yesterday.

Monday’s Women’s Transfer News relayed that Liverpool had agreed a six-figure fee for the Roma forward. It has since emerged that Haug was taking her medical later that day.

Il Messaggero has confirmed that the transfer fee, on top of being Liverpool’s record investment, will be the biggest ever attached to a Roma transfer, incoming or outgoing.

Despite that, the Norway international was not a regular starter for the Serie A Femminile champions. Nevertheless, her goalscoring ratio is positive and she scored a hat-trick for her country at the World Cup.
