Luka Modric has downplayed rumours that he would leave Real Madrid and transfer to the Saudi Pro League this week, with Al-Hilal keen to sign the veteran Croatian midfielder.

The 37-year-old had rejected an initial approach from the Saudi Pro League giants but he could be subject to another bid, with the transfer window still open in the Middle East.

According to Sportskeeda, Modric has now spoken about the offer and explained he is content with his situation at Real Madrid, committing himself to the Spanish giants.

“I’m so happy and fulfilled at Real Madrid, not thinking about other options. I don’t even need to boost my ego with these stories about big offers. I just want to enjoy every moment in football and Real Madrid.”

Modric has played 492 times for Real Madrid since joining from Tottenham Hotspur back in 2012, amassing 37 goals and 77 assists.

He has won five FIFA Club World Cups, four UEFA Super Cups, three La Liga trophies, and five UEFA Champions League titles with the Spanish giants.

Modric opens up on lack of playing time

Meanwhile, Modric has admitted he is not used to sitting out three straight games for his team but is optimistic his situation at Real Madrid will change at very soon, Sports Lens reports.

With Jude Bellingham, Aurelien Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga, and Federico Valverde ahead of him in the pecking order, the 37-year-old midfielder has only started one of Los Blancos’ four La Liga games so far.

Although Modric is anxious to play more often, he is admittedly conscious of the obligations placed upon him and wants to do everything in his power to ensure the club’s future.

Modric sends Ramos heartfelt message

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on the bromance between Sergio Ramos and Modric appearing to have waxed strong despite the defender leaving the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in 2021.

The former teammates at Real Madrid have kept the embers of their friendship burning despite the Spaniard’s departure to Paris Saint Germain and more recently, back to Sevilla.

On occasions, Ramos and Modric have spent time together outside of football, with the former Real Madrid captain occasionally visiting the midfielder and his family in Spain’s capital.
