Jurgen Klopp left stunned after Wolves supporters “serenaded” Jarell Quansah of Liverpool.

Moments you may not have spotted during Liverpool's Premier League clash with Wolves on Saturday

Liverpool maintained their impressive start to the new Premier League campaign by coming from behind to win at Wolves on Saturday.

Hwang Hee-Chan put the hosts in front early on only for the Reds to storm back in the second half with Cody Gakpo, Andy Robertson and a Hugo Bueno own goal earning a 3-1 victory.

The result means Jurgen Klopp’s men have extended their unbeaten league run to 16 games after a strong end to last season.

But there was plenty that went unnoticed or under the radar during the 90 minutes at Molineux.

Klopp makes Matip point

Klopp made it quite clear after the game he could barely believe what he was seeing as Liverpool floundered their way through the first half with a shockingly bad performance.

But his discontent had been apparent during a break in play before half-time when the Reds boss called Joel Matip, one of many players to have been struggling, over to the touchline.

Cue Klopp gesticulating wildly towards the centre-back and firing a few pointed phrases in his direction. Given how the second half panned out, the message clearly got through.

Quansah serenaded

It was quite the first senior Liverpool start for Jarell Quansah, who was thrown in at the deep end with Ibrahima Konate not considered fit enough to start after missing the last few weeks with a muscle problem.

But the 20-year-old was arguably the Reds’ most impressive defender, particularly during the first half, until he had to succumb to an injury during the closing quarter.

Wolves fans had grown frustrated at the youngster having twice gone to ground, leading to Quansah hobbling off while the chant of ‘w**ker’ resonated around much of Molineux. Welcome to the Premier League, Jarell.

Konate steps in

Harvey Elliott wasn’t to know the third goal would ultimately be taken off him as he raced towards the away end to celebrate, earning a booking for both himself and Curtis Jones in the process.

It took a little while to extract Elliott from the jubilant travelling Kop, where the local stewards were assisted by one or two of his team-mates.

Not least Konate, who took to Instagram later on with a message for the youngster stating: “You needed better security so I came!”

Sign of the times

Klopp was in a far more cheery mood than the last time he sat in the press conference room at Molineux after a game back in February.

So much so that when a young fan who had infiltrated the seasoned hacks asked for an autograph, the Reds boss was more than happy to oblige before reminding the polite chap to take back his pen.

The ECHO had been lined up for the first question of the press conference, and were then told by Klopp: “It can only get worse from here!” Which, to be fair, is not the first time we’ve been told that…
