A Real Madrid player is dissatisfied and wants to depart in January.

Real Madrid player unhappy and wants January exit

Real Madrid have made a very good start to the season, winning all six of their games till now. Of course, the performances have left a lot to be desired and they are not playing great football by any stretch of the imagination. But they do seem to finding ways to win their matches, with Jude Bellingham proving to be a superb addition to the squad.

There are some players, who might not be happy with their current situation at Santiago Bernabeu though. And might be eyeing an exit in the near future.

Kepa Arrizabalaga was signed on a season-long loan in the summer after Thibaut Courtois suffered a long-term injury. The Spaniard was placed as the number one between the posts after he arrived. That did mean that Andriy Lunin remained on the bench.

As reported by Fichajes, that would have completely exhausted the patience of Lunin. He apparently has made the decision to put an end to his time at the Santiago Bernabeu this January.

Lunin has been one of the most highly-rated young goalkeepers in the world for a while but we have never seen him get a run of games at Real Madrid. His only appearances have come in the early rounds of the Copa del Rey or when Courtois has been unavailable.

Perhaps he might have been hoping for more opportunities this season with Courtois out injured. But Kepa has been brought in as the starting goalkeeper.

Lunin is 24 years of age now and if he wants to play regular football, he might need to leave Real Madrid. His current deal runs out in the summer of 2024 and it is unlikely that he will sign an extension. Thus, January might be the club’s last chance to get a transfer fee out of his exit.
