Liverpool reportedly think that Ben Doak is showing similar qualities already to Mohamed Salah after appearing for the senior team this season.
According to journalist Ben Jacobs, the Reds have high hopes for the 17-year-old winger after Doak this week signed a new long-term contract with Liverpool.
The teenager started for the Anfield side against LASK, replacing Salah in the starting XI from the side that beat Wolves the previous weekend in the Premier League.
Whilst very much at the start of his Liverpool career, Doak’s potential is clear to see, and there’s a good chance that the winger could actually replace Salah at the club.
The 31-year-old is expected to leave for Saudi Arabia next year, and with Doak already establishing himself as Salah’s replacement at Liverpool, it’s no wonder why this theory is now going around.
And with Liverpool now believing Doak to have the same qualities as Salah, there’s every chance that we can see more from the winger in the coming weeks in both Europe and in the Premier League.
Doak is arguably the most exciting talent Liverpool have had on their hands since Trent Alexander-Arnold, and whilst talk of replacing Salah is big, it could be justified.
The teenager is in for a massive year under Jurgen Klopp, and come the start of next year, Doak could be ready to take on a starting position if Salah is to leave.
The Egyptian will leave some big shoes when his time at Anfield comes to an end, and Doak could be the player to fill them if he can hit his stride this season.
