Benoit Badiashile has showered Chelsea teammate Thiago Silva with huge praise.
Thiago Silva, who’s now 39, continues to be such a key player at Stamford Bridge.
The £110,000-a-week centre-back (Spotrac) has played every minute so far this season in the Premier League, providing a reliable presence in defence for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
How much longer can the Brazilian veteran keep going at this standard, though?
Chelsea’s Benoit Badiashile, 22, is one of the club’s talented young centre-halves. Therefore, it’s no surprise to hear him admit he’s constantly picking the brain of Silva for advice.
He’s described it as an “honour” to work and train with the the legendary defender on a day-to-day basis.
When discussing Silva, Badiashile told Sky Sports: “I ask him an enormous amount of questions to the point where I must get on his nerves a little!”
“It’s because, as Axel [Disasi] said, he’s so intelligent and he’s someone extraordinary for someone of his age. It’s such an honour to work with someone of that class and everyone who works with him benefits from him and it helps us go to the maximum level.”
There’s no doubt that the South American defender plays a big role both on and off the pitch at Chelsea.
We advise every youngster at Stamford Bridge, and there’s a bucket load of them, to be like a sponge around Silva every day. He’s now still playing at the top level in his late-30s by luck.
It’s going to be interesting to see how Badiashile fits into this Chelsea XI once he’s fully fit again. For now, it doesn’t look like Silva is budging from the line-up.
