Carlo Ancelotti has insisted that Lionel Messi is not the greatest in history, despite leading Argentina to World Cup triumph in Qatar.
Messi had a phenomenal tournament in Qatar, putting himself in contention to win the Ballon d’Or ahead of Manchester City’s Erling Haaland.
In a press conference, as quoted by GOAL, Ancelotti spoke on the best players in history.
“Messi the best in history? He’s a great player but I can’t say who’s been the best.
“There have been so many wonderful players… Maradona, Di Stéfano, Cruyff.. I don’t know.”
Messi is the favourite to win his 8th Ballon d’Or but must withstand competition from Haaland.
