Cesc Fabregas critical of Alexis Mac Allister’s actions for Liverpool today

Alexis Mac Allister’s mistake v Brighton

Cesc Fabregas was critical of Alexis Mac Allister for the role he played in Liverpool conceding the opening goal against Brighton and Hove Albion today.

It seems to be a carbon copy. Jurgen Klopp’s side have conceded these types of goals already this season when playing out from the back, just cite the Bournemouth game.

Virgil van Dijk was the man on the ball for Liverpool as he tried to feed a ball through to Alexis Mac Allister, who according to Cesc Fabregas, ‘stayed standing’ as the ball was passed to the 24-year-old, as he told Premier League Productions (08/10/23 at 2:55 pm).

Brighton pounced on that ball, with Alisson Becker off his line before the new kid off the block, Simon Adingra, ran at Liverpool’s backline before slotting home from the edge of the box.

Playing out from the back comes with its risk and reward, as Brighton ended up serving Liverpool the gifts they were being provided.

Both were punished, with Mohamed Salah grabbing himself a brace, as Cesc Fabregas shared his thoughts on Alexis Mac Allister’s actions, or in this case, lack of them.

“I am a little bit surprised with Mac Allister,” said Fabregas. “He wasn’t ready to receive the ball. He stayed standing.

“I agree with you that he (van Dijk) has better options than to play which wasn’t safe.”

Mo Salah is unstoppable right now

If the general thought is that Manchester City’s goal-crazy striker Erling Haaland is going to run away with the Golden Boot, then you have to think again.

Yes, he has less of a challenge now because Harry Kane has headed for the Premier League exit door and joined Bayern Munich.

If there is anyone in the Premier League who can stop Haaland, then it’s Salah, who is on five goals and four assists this season from eight matches.
