Manchester United must improve the backline in the winter transfer window and as per reports, they intend to hire the services of Jose Gimenez from Atletico Madrid.

At the moment, the Red Devils are without four senior defenders and in the central defense, the absence of Argentine international, Lisandro Martinez, has hurt them.

The World Champion is going to be out for some time and Ten Hag needs to reinforce the position in January.

According to Spanish source, Nacional, Man Utd prepare an offer to sign Jose Gimenez from the Rojiblancos.

The Catalan media outlet have mentioned that Ten Hag likes the South American defender and the Old Trafford outfit intend to bet to lure him.

It is stated that Man Utd have an offer of £34.6million (40 million euros) in mind to secure the signing of the 28-year-old star.

Gimenez was a key member of the Atletico Madrid squads that won Spanish La Liga titles in 2014 and 2021 under the management of Diego Simeone.

So far, he has made 290 appearances for the Colchoneros and 81 for the senior international side. He has the quality and the experience to strengthen the backline at Old Trafford.

However, this season, the former Danubio defender has missed majority of the games due to fitness concerns and has only started on two occasions.
