Chelsea injury news – Mauricio Pochettino will be dealing with a number of fitness concerns ahead of the Premier League clash against Arsenal
The international break has not been a welcome domestic pause for Mauricio Pochettino with several of his Chelsea stars appearing to pick up injuries while playing for their countries. After an injury crisis plagued the west London club last season, the Blues have continued to be significantly affected by injury problems with several first-team players already missing large chunks of the 2023/24 season.
After a disappointing start to the Premier League campaign, Chelsea secured three consecutive wins heading into the international break. League triumphs away from home over Fulham and Burnley followed a Carabao Cup victory against Brighton at Stamford Bridge, with all five fit and senior attackers getting on the score sheet.
Unfortunately, some of that momentum was halted ahead of a huge London Derby against Arsenal set for Saturday, October 21. Axel Disasi, Cole Palmer, Nicolas Jackson, Mykhailo Mudryk and Armando Broja were just some of the names called up to represent their respective nations, however all five are now injury doubts.
Disasi was initially brought in as a replacement for the injured Jules Kounde but, just hours after it was revealed he would be in line for a return to the French national team, it was confirmed he was dealing with a quadricep injury and would therefore not be in the squad.
Strikers Jackson and Broja joined Disasi in returning to Cobham early without playing a minute for Albania and Senegal, respectively. While Jackson underwent minor surgery on his wrist, he is still expected to be available to face Arsenal but there are significant concerns surrounding Broja after he left the national team camp earlier this weeks for Broja, I have to give bad news,” Albania boss Sylvinho revealed on the topic of Broja in a press conference. “He was with the team for only two days. After consulting with our doctors and Chelsea’s, he can’t make it, he won’t be ready for tomorrow.”
