Liverpool are reportedly eyeing a club-record move to sign former Manchester City attacker Leroy Sane as a replacement for Mohamed Salah.
According to the Mirror, the Reds have made the Bayern Munich winger their number one target to replace the 31-year-old forward in 2024, who could be set for a move to Saudi Arabia.
As per the report, Liverpool are also ready to smash their club-record transfer to bring Sane to Anfield, with the winger enjoying a sensational season with Thomas Tuchel’s side.
At 27, Sane would be on the older side of what some Liverpool fans might expect from a potential replacement in Salah next year.
However, there’s no denying that the Germany international is one of the best in his position in the world, as well as a winger with Premier League experience.
Indeed, prying Sane from Bayern might be a challenge given how good the attacker has been this season, yet a return to England with Liverpool could be tempting for the forward.
Replacing Salah is as impossible a job as it comes in football, yet Sane could be an ideal transfer for Liverpool to make in such an event.
The Germany superstar has been on fire this season, and with Liverpool likely to have cash to burn on signing a replacement for Salah, Sane ticks a lot of boxes.
With the winger in the peak of his career and Premier League proven, there’s no real reason why Liverpool shouldn’t move for Sane, even with his ties to City.
