Liverpool return to Premier League action this weekend with the little matter of a Merseyside derby against Everton at Anfield.
But it has been a costly international break for Reds boss Jurgen Klopp. He will certainly be without Andy Robertson for Saturday’s big match after he picked up a serious shoulder injury while playing for Scotland.
However, if that wasn’t bad enough, it has now emerged that there is concern from within the Liverpool camp that the left-back could require surgery. But that isn’t the only injury concern Klopp has to contend with.

Liverpool are waiting for the results of scans on Andy Robertson’s dislocated shoulder amid fears the left-back may require an operation.
Robertson suffered the damage shortly before half-time in Scotland’s 2-0 Euro 2024 qualifying defeat in Spain last Thursday when he challenged with home goalkeeper Unai Simon.
The left-back was immediately substituted and subsequently returned to Merseyside for the extent of the damage to be ascertained.
Now the Reds are poised to discover whether the 29-year-old will require an operation to repair the damage, which would rule him out for a significantly lengthy period as Jurgen Klopp’s side continue to challenge on three fronts.
Ben Doak has provided Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp with another potential injury headache ahead of Saturday’s Merseyside derby.
Doak was forced to withdraw from the Scotland under-21 squad for their UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifier against Malta on Tuesday evening having suffered a fitness setback.
The 17-year-old winger, who was being tipped to possibly feature in the squad for the Scotland senior team’s friendly against France on the same night, had been replaced shortly after the hour in the U21’s 3-1 win over Hungary on Friday having earned and scored a first-half penalty.
Liverpool are waiting to discover the nature and extent of the damage, but the uncertainty is another unwanted concern for Klopp as he grapples with availability issues for the weekend visit of Everton.
