Jamal Musiala could be the man to replace Thiago Alcantara at Liverpool – with reports from Germany claiming Jurgen Klopp is keeping an eye on the Bayern Munich starlet.
Musiala has excelled in Bavaria during his three full seasons with Munich’s first team and has even taken his talents to the international stage, having represented Germany at both Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
According to Christian Falk of BILD, Liverpool are interested in the 20-year-old, who has less than three years remaining on his current deal with the Bundesliga champions.
If the Reds were successful in a swoop for the versatile midfielder, Musiala could end up being the heir to Thiago’s throne on Merseyside – a player he has previously admitted to being in awe of when training with the Bayern first team in 2019. Thiago’s contract runs out in the summer.
Former Southampton and Chelsea youth product Musiala, however, might not be the only new addition to the midfield ranks at Anfield in the coming months, with Fluminense’s Andre Trindade once again being linked with a move to Merseyside in January 2024.
Fluminense have been reluctant to part ways with the midfielder due to their hopes of triumphing in South America’s prestigious Copa Libertadores tournament, which they will contest the final of against Boca Juniors on November 4. But their stance could change come January.
That means that in time for the 2024/25 season, Liverpool could boast an extreme strength in depth in their engine room with Andre and Musiala potentially joining the likes of Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott, Wataru Endo, Ryan Gravenberch and Stefan Bajcetic.
Reds boss Klopp’s attack could also be heading for significant changes with the Saudi Pro League’s pursuit of Mohamed Salah expected to recommence in the summer of 2024. The Saudi Pro League champions Al-Ittihad had a bid worth in the region of £150m rejected for the Egyptian in September.
In recent days, former Manchester City winger Leroy Sane has been linked with a move to Liverpool.
With that in mind, here is how Liverpool could line up next season if Musiala and Andre are to join, and if Salah is sold and is replaced by Sane.
Liverpool (4-3-3): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Andre, Szoboszlai, Musiala; Sane, Nunez, Diaz.
