Amid the rivalry between Liverpool, Tottenham, and Man City, Mikel Arteta admits that Arsenal is the winner.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has admitted that he doesn’t know which teams will be involved in the title race this season, but is hopeful his side will be amongst them. It comes as the Gunners have made a decent start to their campaign with the aim of lifting the Premier League next May.

Six wins and two draws in their opening eight matches leaves the side unbeaten in the league, but in second place behind rivals Tottenham on goal difference. The Lilywhites sit top of the pile after plenty of changes over the summer, with new boss Ange Postecoglou transforming the team.

Below the two north London outfits are Manchester City, the reigning champions and the side that most had been expected to chase once again. After a decent start, Pep Guardiola’s men slumped to two back-to-back defeats in the division, including their most recent defeat to Arsenal, leaving them looking vulnerable.

In fourth, and seemingly the last team amongst the early contenders for the title are Liverpool, a team revitalised with a raft of new summer signings. Jurgen Klopp has the added experience of winning the Premier League against this City side before and will no doubt look to harness that to his advantage.

While the table is starting to take shape, there are still 30 games left for each team to work through before they reach their final destination. It means there will be plenty of twists and turns, trials and tribulations in the title race that are still unwritten and that leaves plenty up for grabs.

With that in mind, Arteta was quizzed over the title race before his side’s clash with London rivals Chelsea on Saturday evening. The Spaniard admitted that he is unsure which teams will be involved but he wants to be amongst it.

“I don’t have a clue who is going to be involved,” the head coach told the press on Friday. “We want to be there. The league is so demanding.”

That league aspect will be on top of Arsenal fighting to win the Champions League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup along the way too. What will be determined a success remains to be seen though.
