Perry Groves has admitted that Dominik Szoboszlai’s passing has caught everyone by surprise, with the Liverpool midfielder taking the Premier League by storm.
Speaking on TalkSport, the pundit claimed that fans and experts have been caught off-guard by Szoboszlai’s passing range since moving to Anfield this summer.
The 22-year-old was signed by Liverpool in the transfer window in a £60m deal from RB Leipzig, and Szoboszlai has cemented himself as one of Jurgen Klopp’s most important players.
The Hungarian international has made the transition from the Bundesliga to the Premier League flawlessly, and Szoboszlai is well on his way to becoming an icon for Liverpool.
Yet it’s the midfielder’s passing that has caught Groves by surprise, with Szoboszlai showcasing his talents already in England.
Groves said: “I think people were surprised at his passing range, Szoboszlai. They knew he had the energy but I don’t think they realised he had that sort of vision as well.”
Most Liverpool fans knew what they were getting themselves into with Szoboszlai, though few would have predicted the midfielder to be as good as he has been this season.
At £60m, the youngster is on course to become one of the signings of the summer, with Liverpool’s midfield transformed largely by the Hungarian.
And Szoboszlai knows that he is only getting started, with the best yet to come from the 22-year-old as we head deeper into the season.
