Liverpool maintained its perfect home record this season as it beat Nottingham Forest 3-0 at Anfield. With 10 games gone in the Premier League campaign, the Reds are in a very good position in the top four.
Jürgen Klopp’s side is just three points off leaders Tottenham, with Arsenal sitting one point ahead. Over the next six fixtures though, the Reds could make some incisive moves.
Next up for Liverpool is a trip to Bournemouth in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday. In terms of the league though, the Reds should be confident of taking maximum points from their next two games.
First up is a trip to Luton on November 5, before Brentford visit Anfield on November 12. Then comes the big one — the Reds head to the Etihad Stadium to take on Manchester City on November 25 in what could be a huge game in this season’s title race.
It’s then a busy start to December as Liverpool hosts Fulham on the 3rd, with trips to Sheffield United and Crystal Palace following soon after on the 6th and 9th. As you can see, the City trip is sandwiched in a favorable group of fixtures for the Reds.
And they’ll want to take full advantage, with their rivals at the top facing some tricky fixtures during the same period. Current leaders Tottenham in particular faces a huge test of its title credentials.
Next up for Spurs is Chelsea (H), before they round off November against Wolves (A) and Aston Villa (H). They then begin December against Man City (A), West Ham (H) and Newcastle (H).
As for Arsenal, Mikel Arteta’s side begins with a tricky clash against Newcastle (A), before taking on Burnley (H) and Brentford (A). December then brings it games against Wolves (H), Luton (A) and Aston Villa (A).
Meanwhile, Manchester City takes on Bournemouth (H) after today’s Manchester derby, before taking on Chelsea (A), with that clash against Liverpool following after the international break. Things don’t get any easier in December, with Tottenham (H), Aston Villa (A) and Luton (A) to follow.
Liverpool is well-placed in the top four at the moment, but the next six fixtures present an opportunity for it to really present itself as a title challenger. If it can get something from the trip to Man City as well, we could be in for an exciting season.
