‘Something has happened’

Liverpool look like a team transformed this season.

The Reds were, in all honesty, poor last season as they slumped to a fifth-placed finish, but they have been much-improved this term and look like potential title challengers.

Of course, the midfield revolution at Anfield has made a huge difference, but while there has been a lot of focus on the Reds’ new signings, one of their long-standing midfield options has really kicked on.

Indeed, Curtis Jones is playing arguably the best football of his career at the moment, and speaking on the We are Liverpool Podcast, Jan Molby has spoken highly of the 22-year-old.

Molby spoke to Jones about his development, and he says that he’s noticed a huge improvement in the youngster over the past six to eight months.

Huge improvement from Jones

Molby spoke about the young Liverpool star.

“I don’t think he is this or that. I think you’re capable of playing in all three positions. Something has happened in the last six or eight months that lends me towards thinking you’re ready to play in any position. You seem capable of handling it all and that’s really impressive,” Molby said.

Kicked on

Molby is absolutely right, Jones has really kicked on over the past six months.

For a little while, Jones looked overawed by the idea of playing in big games for this Liverpool team, but as it became clear that the old-guard of Jordan Henderson, Fabinho and James Milner were being phased out, Jones stepped up.

Nowadays, Jones is one of Liverpool’s very best midfield options, and even with the four new signings through the door this summer, he’s still in contention for a start every week, and he’s barely put a foot wrong this season barring a controversial red card against Tottenham.
