Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah has admitted that he would love to play in the same team as Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne.
Both players, who have made significant contributions to City’s and Liverpool’s domination in the Premier League in recent seasons, will go down in history as two of the division’s greatest-ever players. Both are renowned for their goals, assists and general talents.
Between them, they have scored 213 Premier League goals in their careers, as well as winning six Premier League titles. Both players are blessed with talent, ranging from pace to precise passing.
And for Salah, who provided the assist for Liverpool’s equaliser against City at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday, De Bruyne, who has been sidelined since August with a hamstring injury, is one of three players he would relish to play alongside. He has also admitted he would like to rub shoulders with Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
“Messi or Ronaldo, but if I pick one in the Premier League then I’d choose Kevin,” Salah told Sky Sports. “He has vision, I’m sure he can find me anywhere with the ball so I would say Messi, Ronaldo and then Kevin.
“He’s a great player, the whole team (City) is great. But I just try to play my game and not focus on anyone else.”
De Bruyne, who has netted four goals and registered eight assists against Liverpool in his career, has not played since City’s 3-0 win over Burnley on the opening night of the season. He was forced off after 23 minutes, robbing Pep Guardiola of his chief architect.
Issuing an update on his recovery at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Sunday, De Bruyne said: “It’s going well (his recovery), it’s getting along. I’ve still got a little bit to go but we’re getting there. I hope for something closely after New Year if everything goes well.”
