Inspiring Endo, Magic Trent, Mac Allister’s beauty, and more

Liverpool secured a stunning 4-3 victory over Fulham in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon as Trent Alexander-Arnold’s late winner earned three points at Anfield.

The Reds trailed the visitors three minutes from time but completed an impressive turnaround in the closing stages to maintain their winning start to the season on Merseyside.

Here are five things we spotted during a thrilling afternoon of Premier League action…

The late, late show

Anfield was treated to a seven-goal thriller on Sunday afternoon in a topsy-turvy encounter that saw Liverpool eventually come out on top.

It was an afternoon that ebbed and flowed but, ultimately, two stunning goals in two minutes for the Reds settled a contest in the final 10 minutes that provided pulsating action from the first whistle.

All four of Liverpool’s efforts could be in the discussion for December’s Goal of the Month award when the nominations are decided in the coming weeks, though closer inspection may be required on who will be awarded the Reds’ opening strike of the afternoon, with Alexander-Arnold’s free-kick deflection off goalkeeper Bernd Leno.

One thing we can be sure of, though, was Alexander-Arnold was definitely the player who sparked bedlam in the stands two minutes from time as his volley lifted the roof off the Liverpool’s home ground to earn the spoils in unlikely fashion.

His well-timed strike closed out a frantic finish, with the No.66 and Wataru Endo both scoring in the 87th and 88th minute following Bobby Decordova-Reid putting Fulham ahead in the 80th minute.

It wasn’t a game for the heart rate for those of a Liverpool persuasion, but a game of huge entertainment nonetheless.

More Trent magic

A week on from his Premier League heroics against Manchester City, he was at it again.

Alexander-Arnold has long made a name for himself for his passing ability and eye for goal from defence – but his three goal contributions in two games have shown his quality and importance to Klopp’s charges.

The No.66 delivered once more and in some style as he crashed a free-kick off the underside of the bar via Leno’s back to raise Anfield to its feet in the first half.

His second, though, will be attributed to the Scouser without doubt and led to an eruption in the stands with Alexander-Arnold completing the late turnaround in stunning fashion to spark jubilant scenes.

Two fine goals from Liverpool’s vice-captain.

Mac Allister’s first LFC goal

A better goal in world football you will struggle to find across the weekend.

Mac Allister helped the Reds restore their opening half advantage over Fulham with a strike from distance for the ages, rifling an effort into the top corner of the net from 27 yards out.

The midfielder hadn’t previously scored for Liverpool following his arrival from Brighton & Hove Albion in the summer, and he may not score a better one over the course of his career on Merseyside.

It was some way to open his account and a contribution to the victory that will not go unnoticed by those watching on.

The midfielder’s introduction from the bench in the 83rd minute proved to be the key turning point for Liverpool.

The No.3 curled an inch-perfect shot into the top corner four minutes after stepping into the game and it gave Klopp’s charges the belief, impetus and momentum needed to go on and win the contest.

Endo’s goal was brilliant in its own right and was a decisive moment just at the right time for Liverpool.

The Reds have now won all 11 home games at Anfield this season, though this one was a little closer than those that have come previously.

It has been an impressive start for Liverpool on their own turf, having yet to be beaten across all competitions in L4 in 2023-24.

Liverpool now travel away to Sheffield United in midweek looking to continue and harness the momentum gained from another strong result on Merseyside with games coming thick and fast ahead of the upcoming festive period.
