It all started out so well for Liverpool against Fulham. The Reds were well on top of the match, creating chances early and often. Trent Alexander-Arnold put an exclamation point on the early pressure with a fantastic free kick that clipped the crossbar before coming off the back of Bernd Leno to open the scoring in the 20th minute. Fulham would not go away, however, and twice came back from a goal down before going ahead themselves in the 80th minute. For the fourth time this season, however, Liverpool came back from a losing position to get the win, with Alexander-Arnold netting the match winner just a minute after Wataru Endo equalized.
After the match, the Trent was asked what the win meant. The Scouser was proud to have provided the winning moment, but more happy to take home all of the points during an important and busy stretch of the season.
For the big moment itself, Trent said he was just following up on a ball into the box. He was just able to wrap his body around the ball to strike it cleanly despite taking, in his words, a poor first touch.
As for the celebration itself, Trent said the fantastic belly slide was partially self-preservation after taking a cut on his knee earlier in the match. As the rest of the team came sliding in after him, the Scouser said everyone was quite hyped up.
While the winning goal is the moment that will likely be most remembered after the matc, Alexander-Arnold’s sensational free kick that was given as an own goal was an even better strike. He said that he and fell free kick savant Dominik Szoboszlai have an understanding that Trent prefers kicks from that side of the pitch.
