The Reds could hijack a Manchester United transfer deal in January while Gary Lineker has outlined what ‘irritates’ him about a Jürgen Klopp favorite. Here’s your round-up of the latest Liverpool news.
As January nears, Liverpool will be linked with a variety of players. Links with defensive midfielders have cooled with the Reds not planning to make a move in that department, but a center-back is another position that should be on the agenda.
Manchester United is supposedly keen to sign Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo, who is said to be valued at around $50m (£40m/€47m). But according to the Evening Standard, both Liverpool and Spurs could be in for the 23-year-old as well, despite him being a ‘dream’ option, in the words of TeamTalk, for the Old Trafford side.
Previously, Goal has reported that Todibo would be willing to make a move to England but the latest claims are that he would only make the switch if he was going to be first choice. That is with next summer’s European Championships in mind.
Long term, he could be a first-choice option for Liverpool but right now, it would be hard to argue the case that he would be a certainty to get enough minutes in the matches that he would want. At Manchester United and Tottenham, while the level is lower, the pitch might be easier six months ahead of a major international tournament in which players like Todibo will want to feature.
