Liverpool might not be sitting at the top of the Premier League as it would have hoped heading into Christmas, but the Reds can be more than happy with how their season is going so far.
With just one game to go until we reach the halfway point in the campaign, Jürgen Klopp’s side sits just one point off Premier League leaders Arsenal. Neither side could be separated when they met at Anfield on Saturday, although Liverpool will feel it could have claimed a vital three points and made a major statement.
Nevertheless, the Reds are firmly in the hunt for four trophies this season, having also safely progressed to the knockout stages of the Europa League, as well as the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup. The focus in the New Year will be on making sure some silverware is earned.
Liverpool will also need to keep an eye on its rivals, and according to the latest reports, Paris Saint-Germain could be about to beat the Reds to a January transfer. Here, Liverpool.com takes a scan around the other big sides in the Premier League and around Europe to take a look at the news going on at the other clubs.
Kylian Mbappé makes January transfer decision
Kylian Mbappé does not want to leave PSG in January, according to L’Equipe. The 25-year-old’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season, leaving him free to discuss a free transfer with any clubs outside of France.
A move to Real Madrid has been heavily touted, although the Spanish club could be forced to wait. PSG, meanwhile, will not want to lose its prize asset for nothing, which could complicate matters further.
