Liverpool could be about to head into 2024 top of the pile in the Premier League, with Jürgen Klopp’s side having already finished 2023 in style. That win over Burnley took a while to be sealed, but it was always a likely outcome.
The Reds’ place at the summit will of course depend on Arsenal’s result at Fulham on Sunday, but Liverpool can be delighted with the position they find themselves in heading into the New Year. The problems that arose during last season’s disappointment now look to be far behind them.
There is plenty of work still to do though if Liverpool is to claim any silverware in 2024, never mind the Premier League. The Reds are well placed though, with a semi-final against Fulham to come in the Carabao Cup, while they’ll be in the last-16 of the Europa League in March.
But the focus for now will be on overcoming Newcastle on New Year’s Day and ensuring they remain top of the league, while Klopp may also have one eye on the January transfer window, which could provide the ideal boost to his side’s title aspirations. Liverpool third kit for 2024/25 ‘leaked’
We’re only just halfway through the current season, but already fans are getting excited at the potential offerings for the 2024/25 campaign. Pictures purportedly showing next year’s third kit have been leaked online, giving fans a glimpse of what they could get their hands on.
According to Footy Headlines, the shirt will be grey and white with a red trim. The Standard Chartered sponsorship logo will be black and there is a bit of yellow in there as well, while the Nike tick is red and yellow with the US sports giant’s logo tipped on its side in a strange twist.
Saudi rule change could pave way for Mohamed Salah move
According to broadcaster Ben Jacobs, the Saudi Pro League has agreed to a rule change that will allow its member clubs to make more foreign signings. The new rule will allow clubs to register 10 foreign players in their 25-man squads, an increase on the current limit of eight.
That could of course have big implications for Premier League clubs that are regularly targeted, especially Liverpool. Jordan Henderson and Fabinho made the switch to the Middle East during the summer, and there is of course interest in Mohamed Salah. The Reds rejected a $191m (£150m/€173m) offer from Al-Ittihad during the last transfer window, but the interest is not likely to disappear anytime soon.
