Kylian Mbappe has reportedly agreed to join Real Madrid next season – ultimately snubbing a move to the Premier League.
The French forward has once again dominated the headlines this month after entering the final six months of his deal with Paris Saint-Germain. He is free to talk to clubs outside of France regarding a free transfer come the end of the season.
Spanish giants Real Madrid have long been linked with a move for his signature and looked on the verge of signing him back in the summer of 2022, only for Mbappe to perform a U-turn and pen fresh terms with Paris Saint-Germain.
Now, it finally appears as though the La Liga giants have got their man. According to French outlet Foot Mercato, Mbappe has come to an agreement with Real Madrid over recent days.
It is suggested that he has finally agreed to their terms and will join them on a free transfer at the end of the current season. This comes after it emerged that the striker had agreed to sacrifice a loyalty bonus worth £69million in order to secure a more amicable exit from PSG this summer.
The latest updates, however, come amid a few contrasting reports. Mbappe himself recently claimed that he had not yet made a firm decision on his future. Speaking after PSG’s Trophee des Champions success, he said: “I haven’t made my decision, I haven’t made a choice.
“But with the agreement I made with the president this summer, whatever my decision, we managed to protect all parties and preserve the serenity of the club for the challenges to come, which remains the most important. If I know what I’m going to do, it won’t take long.”
Elsewhere, it is also claimed that a move to the Premier League still appeals to the 25-year-old. As per The Times, he is still considering his options – with a free transfer to England among those at the forefront of his mind after being left ‘unimpressed’ by Real’s attempt to push him into a decision.
It is claimed that Mbappe has told those close to him that the Spanish side will not make a call over his future for him. Regarding a move to the Premier League, Liverpool appeared the most likely to make a play for his services.
Jurgen Klopp has admitted publicly that he is an admirer of the 2018 World Cup winner’s talents – and Mbappe would be a perfect replacement for Mohamed Salah, who continues to be linked with a switch to Saudi Arabia. Mbappe has also conceded that he held talks with the Reds earlier in his career.
