The “instrumental” player for Liverpool will make a comeback in the following two weeks.

Liverpool may be in brilliant form at the moment, but they do have a selection crisis on their hands right now.

Indeed, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah, Dominik Szoboszlai and Wataru Endo are all unavailable for selection against Fulham due to either injury or international commitments, while Andrew Robertson has been a long-term absentee.

The Scottish left-back has been out of action for quite some time now, but he could be back before too long.

Indeed, speaking on the Walk On Podcast, James Pearce has shared an update on Robertson, and he says that he’s been told that the full-back’s return to full training is now less than a fortnight away.

Robertson closing in on return

Pearce shared what he knows about the ‘instrumental’ Scot.

“Throw into the mix, I was told that Robertson is probably just less than a fortnight away from full training again, so he could be back by the end of January, and that frees up Joe Gomez to play centrally as well,” Pearce said.

Boost

This is great to hear, and it’s a welcomed boost to a Liverpool side that is struggling for numbers at the moment.

With Trent Alexander-Arnold out of action for a few weeks, Robertson’s return should allow Joe Gomez to shift over to right-back, which ought to allow Liverpool to play with a bit more fluidity.

Of course, in an ideal world, Robertson would be returning to partner Alexander-Arnold and reform one of the most frightening duos in the Premier League, but, sadly, we may have to wait a few more weeks to see these two playing together.

Regardless, Robertson’s return is a huge positive, and the full-back should be able to play a huge part in the Reds’ title charge between now and the end of the season.

Fingers crossed Robertson is available for selection in that crunch game against Arsenal in a few weeks’ time.
